MAYCA FOOD SERVICE Inaugurates Modern Distribution Center in Costa Rica

The new Mayca Food Service Distribution Center will be officially inaugurated this July 19, 2017 by Luis Guillermo Solís, President of the Republic of Costa Rica; Bill DeLaney, CEO of Sysco Corporation and Jose Maroto, General Manager of Mayca.

The new facilities will favor the growth of the company, through greater operational efficiency, will promote the commercialization of new products, while allowing better service and excellent customer service.

In the same way, they will serve as a platform for the expansion process to other countries, since, in September last year, opened the first operation in Panama with a distribution center under the brand Sysco.

Currently, Mayca is evaluating other countries in the region to expand its business.

“In the next 3 or 4 years, we plan to expand our facilities, in order to meet the demand of the food service market. Growth that would also imply the generation of around 250 new jobs; With which we ratify our commitment to the economic development of the country, “says Jose Maroto, general manager of Mayca.
Leader in Food Service

Mayca is dedicated to the commercialization and distribution of food and products in Costa Rica. The company was born in the nineties, to develop the business of disposable packaging, a situation that prompted them to attend the fast food chains that began to grow at the same time. Today, Mayca supplies more than 90% of the chains and franchises operating in Costa Rica.

Currently, it distributes a complete line that covers the needs and requirements of any establishment that works in the preparation of foods to be consumed away from home, as much in foodstuffs as in supplies. It sells meats, seafood, chicken, pigs, grains, sauces, snacks, bakery, pastries, among others; cleaning; Packaging in general; Disposable and kitchen utensils. More than 4,500 products in total, distributed and marketed to more than 8,000 customers and daily, are the work input of 700 employees committed to excellence, open to change and enjoy what they do.

Innovation and efficiency

The new building was built by Edificación and designed by Sysco Corporation (NYSE: SYY). It incorporates the latest technology for energy saving. It has a 20-door refrigeration system to maintain the cold chain, as well as three-way electric trucks to streamline and optimize processes.

It is the largest distribution center for food services in Central America. It has twice the size of the previous warehouse and six times more refrigerated space, with a more efficient consumption of energy.

The Distribution Center is also strategically located between Route 27, General Canas and Bernardo Soto. An area of great business development.
